In 1982, Glenn Murphree bought Olde Tyme Grocery and began serving poor-boys to the Lafayette community. After many years of growing Olde Tyme, Glenn came across BJ’s in Broussard. He loved the character of the building and the business. Originally, Glenn planned on changing the name of BJ’s to Olde Tyme Grocery, but business picked up and many came to know that they were linked. BJ’s kept its name, but its food and service is “in the Olde Tyme” tradition. Years later, Glenn was shopping around for new equipment. He was looking at the equipment at Sandra’s Café and Health Food Store when the opportunity came for him to buy the business. Not knowing much about health food, Glenn jumped at the opportunity to try something new. Today, all three stores make up what is known as Olde Tyme Grocery Incorporated, which is continuously growing to serve the Acadiana community.
